Lutz is a medium-sized town located in the state of Florida. With a population of 23,707 people and 13 constituent neighborhoods, Lutz is the 134th largest community in Florida.

Housing costs in Lutz are among some of the highest in the nation, although real estate prices here don’t compare to real estate prices in the most expensive communities in Florida.

Lutz is a decidedly white-collar town, with fully 86.81% of the workforce employed in white-collar jobs, well above the national average. Overall, Lutz is a town of professionals, sales and office workers, and managers. There are especially a lot of people living in Lutz who work in management occupations (13.51%), office and administrative support (11.82%), and sales jobs (11.29%).

Also of interest is that Lutz has more people living here who work in computers and math than 95% of the places in the US. One interesting thing about the economy is that relatively large numbers of people worked from their home: 8.70% of the workforce. While this number may seem small overall, as a fraction of the total workforce this is high compared to the rest of the county. These workers are often telecommuters who work in knowledge-based, white-collar professions. For example, Silicon Valley has large numbers of people who telecommute. Other at-home workers may be self-employed people who operate small businesses out of their homes.

Because of many things, Lutz is a great place for families with children to consider. First of all, many other families with children live here, making Lutz a place where both parents and children are more likely to develop social ties with other families, as well as find family-oriented services and community. The town’s good public school district and large population of college-educated adults provide an environment conducive to academic values. With regard to real estate, Lutz has a high rate of owner-occupied single family homes, which tends to reflect stability in the local community. Finally, Lutz’s overall crime rate is lower than average for the country.

One downside of living in Lutz, however, is that residents on average have to contend with a long commute, spending on average 32.77 minutes every day commuting to work.

Lutz is one of the most well-educated cities in the nation. 46.05% of adults in Lutz have at least a bachelor’s degree. Compare that to the average community in America, which has just 21.84% with a bachelor’s degree or higher. The per capita income in Lutz in 2018 was $43,036, which is upper middle income relative to Florida, and wealthy relative to the rest of the US. This equates to an annual income of $172,144 for a family of four. However, Lutz contains both very wealthy and poor people as well.

Lutz is a very ethnically-diverse town. The people who call Lutz home describe themselves as belonging to a variety of racial and ethnic groups. The greatest number of Lutz residents report their race to be White, followed by Asian. Lutz also has a sizeable Hispanic population (people of Hispanic origin can be of any race). People of Hispanic or Latino origin account for 12.80% of the town’s residents. Important ancestries of people in Lutz include German, Irish, English, Italian, and Polish. The most common language spoken in Lutz is English. Other important languages spoken here include Spanish and Arabic.
